Served on-tap at Busy Bee in Raleigh, NC
A: Pours an opaque yet clear very dark brown (almost black) in color with some light amounts of gentle carbonation near the surface and a light amount of very dark amber highlights. The beer has a finger tall pillowy dark tan head that slowly reduces to a thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer with a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Light to moderate aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee - the chocolate and coffee become slightly more pronounced as the beer warms up.
T: Upfront there is a light to moderate flavor of roasted malts with some lighter notes of bittersweet/dark chocolate and espresso. Just a hint of an earthy hop but it is fairly faint. There are light to moderate amounts of bitterness but they do not linger too long.
M: Just shy of medium bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth and creamy, almost slightly airy. Just a touch of dryness in the finish.
O: Super easy to drink with a lighter mouthfeel, low ABV, and very enjoyable flavors - light enough in ABV to be sessionable and definitely a great beer for St. Paddy's Day.
