For my second barrel aged beer from Brasserie du Mont Salève, it's my first beer ever aged in Liqueur d'Orange (Orange liquor, if you didn't make the link) (Grand Marnier?).
This one is for sure a dessert imperial stout. I'm having it 6 months later than the Cognac version which was released approximately at the same time.
L - Pitch black with almost no head
S - Very chocolatey, some bitter orange. Rounded up all right
T - Cocoa powder, prunes, earthy hops, some acidity, nice Cognac notes. It has some kick in the back end. Perfect balance. No residual sweetness
Nice balance with chocolate, espresso coffee, vanilla, some acidity, a bit of citrus booziness and a certain bittersweetness in the end
M - Thick, velvety, low carbonation
O - A very nice barrel aged stout but not as great as the cognac barrel aged version. Maybe it's the difference of barrel used or maybe it's because it pasts its prime 6 months ago, maybe it's a bit of both. Anyway a very nice beer.
