a really clever and modern beer here, and the only beer i have ever had from these guys. its a brut ipa, but not overly dry hoppy or intense on the hops, and done with some grape juice, not sure which varietal, but its definitely white grape, and its a cool touch in a beer that already skews a little vinous, i thought this was delicious. the grapes and the hops go well together, subtle green gooseberry, tart green apple, grapefruit, and kiwi coming out of one or both of them and getting together in a really sort of summery and mouthwatering way. the beer is maybe a shade darker and a step maltier than a lot of these have been in the states, which i guess is the english way, but it doesnt make the beer sweet or heavy or anything. i dont get much yeast character here, but i dont miss it, and the beer is plenty dry and complete in its fermentation, even with the fruit, so it did its job even if it doesnt assert itself in any meaningful way. there is a pretty good amount of hop bitterness here too, a citrus pith note to it, but ramped up compared to the dry hop only methodology usually employed in the brut style. good carbonation but not explosive, and fresh tasting to me. the grape juice is well incorporated, still beer way before wine, but its a nice touch that is great with the hops they picked out here. overall tasty and unique, bummed i didnt get to drink any others from these guys while i was in london!
