this is such an interesting place, and one i have long avoided to my own detriment. it was apparently started by cops, and it looks like they have embraced the authority thing. behind the bar it say "justice. served." which to me means keep away, you know, with a pocket full of herb and all, plus leaving the place in a car after a few beers, it just seems like a trap i would be dumb enough to fall into, but despite this appearance, thats not what these guys are about at all. its a rad space, brand new looking, big outdoor patio, cool bar and high top table area in front when you walk in, a catwalk sort of area with tables overlooking the brewhouse and barrel set up down below, and a spacious dining room as well. maybe a little sterile, but really nice. they had a ton of beers on tap too across a range of different series. i had a brett saison in a wine barrel with peaches, a coffee brown ale with vanilla, a homemade chai blonde, and a regular clean saison, and all of them were excellent and well ahead of modest expectations! their wild beers are awesome right now, and there is no shortage of creativity on this beer list, really impressed their. their food is rad too, thoughtful and from scratch tasting. the best part of this place though is the caves. the land is on this crazy old cave that has history from abe lincoln to bank robbers and mobsters, its insane. you go down stairs to this carved out barrel bar room that has sandstone walls and looks to be medieval, with some beer aging and a small speakeasy sort of vibe, its one of the coolest things i have ever seen, they open it up on the weekends. behind that is an elaborate system of caves with old carvings on every inch of the walls and ceilings, and its pretty trippy, they give free tours down there, its freaky and awesome and historical, really fascinating. its a cool climate to age the beer in too, and they are doing that, just so unique and special, i loved this part of the experience. they have some great people who work here, but the service was a little slow at the bar. i didnt mind waiting though because of how great everything way. this was easily the most memorable brewery experience i have had in a long time, i should never have judged this place a a cop den like i did, its really cool! a must see, and do not miss the caves!

The beer is bad, and everyone, locally or otherwise, who gives a damn about beer being enjoyable, knows it. Their barrel series leaves some small amount of hope for the future, but even these are inconsistent, potential carbonation bombs, or just barrel juiced garbage. If they aren't going to get better, they won't be around long (hopefully.)

I tried the Okhana Imperial Stout. It does provide the requisite maltiness and alcoholic nose.

Sure. It's a nice taproom. Ok people manning the place. The problem is, Blue Blood Has been around awhile now. They have been pretty consistent in making terrible beer. Why haven't they tried to do better? People are buying the beer, or other money is coming in from somewhere, because they're opening up a new location. This is their raison d'ĂȘtre, Kitsch. I feel like every time they expand, or release a new beer, that they are laughing at us, the craft beer consumer.

Really enjoyed our tour here. Brian, the President and brewer, does the tours and goes into depth about the process and why they do things the way they do. He took time at each process to explain it, something I haven't seen at other tours. This was especially appealing to me, a homebrewer, and was beneficial to those that are semi familiar with the brewing process. He is passionate about his beer and his company. Really look forward to new offerings that they will have.
Free tour and free beer, perfect combination!
