Special
Poured from 750 ml bottle dated 5/12/2015.
A: Deep brown with some purple tones. Less than one finger head that settled immediately, and leaves zero lacing.
S: Bourbon, tart dark fruits, and Belgian yeast. Plums and cherries.
T: Mostly whiskey over a base beer than seems to border between a Belgian dark and a dubbel. Dark fruits coming through, and are a little tart. Not exactly sour, but headed that direction. It seems the base beer has a decent amount of sweetness, but the barrel aging has tempered it substantially.
M: Medium body and undercarbonated. Quite a bit thinner than I was expecting. Finish is dry and tart.
O: Interesting idea but not very well executed. Glad I only bought one bottle.
