Pulling the Belgian tripel style to the fruitier and sweeter side, they employ the use of Blue Note Distilling barrels for added complexity, power and flavor.
The Black Abbey's Barrel-Aged Tripel hits the class with a creamy golden appearance capped with a stark white crown. As a fruity scent of orchard, citrus and stone fruit swirl about the nose so does a peppery twinge of yeast spice and vinous alcohol. Sweetness of fresh bread, cookie dough and honey greet the tongue ahead of a full fruity flavor of pear, apple, lemon, orange, papaya and dates. A rebuttal of spices are mild and add a bite of white pepper, clove, cumin and coriander with a finish of cider, white wine and pleasantly grassy hops.
Full bodied but lighter in flavor profile, the ale is dangerously drinkable despite trending fruitier and sweeter than the standard tripel ale.
