This was the first beer that I ever had from Round Guys, as I found it recently via the single can at Joe Canal's in Woodbridge. Loved the label and the seasonal beer aspect of this, although I would never guess that a beer of this style would be brewed for the holidays. It had to be the cherry, as that was present in this and just a bit stronger than I would have liked!
Not surprisingly, this had a red hue to it that was quite dark and cloudy, with some light coming through around the edges. A good amount of foam topped it off as the lacing was sparse aside from a ring near the top and a fair bit of soapiness near the bottom of my pint glass. Lots of cherry, syrup, and Pale Malt in the nose as the taste was quite syrupy and a bit leathery once this fully warmed up. A bit of caramel, tartness, and bread was here as this was mellow, balanced, and just a bit too sweet for this style, although it was plenty amber and sticky on my lips once I finished this off.
The carbonation was fine and the booze was present, but not overpowering, as the honey wasn't tastes so much as it was felt. Dated 11/24 on a sticker that was on the side of the can, this felt fresh and a bit reminiscent of the Troegs Mad Elf. Fine for a change as this would pair nicely with some cranberry treats for the season as there were hints of that fully came through in the aftertaste. Worth a go once to keep warm with as Christmas approaches!
