The lightly hazed bright yellow colored beer is served in a shaker pint with a 1/4" white head that soon disappears but leaves small bits of lacing on the sides of the glass.
The aromas include some green orchard fruits (mostly apple) along with a bit of vanilla and oak in the background.
The flavors are much as expected from the nose with the green orchard fruit. There's some sweetness with a bit of earthiness from the hops. The Belgian yeast flavors work fairly well with the bits of oak and vanilla. The alcohol is well hidden.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied and carbonation moderate and reasonably persistent.
A reasonably well made beer and worth trying at least once.

back door sample before pbw and at lansdale beer fest
A - hazy lemon peel color with slight head and lace
S - a matching nose with hints of brandy apple, wood and vanilla .
T -all the nose come through as no surprise. has to be on my top three of cask tripels .smoother and less wood than allagash Curieux. . The brandy and apple dont over power the base fatbob tripel , just good sippin....
M -lite on carbination like most taking the barrel route
best at 50 deg. +.
O - dont drink cold and let it mellow in the glass. its up there at 8.6abv and well worth the trip to find this brew . when i saw the oak barrels in the basement of the brewery i just knew these guys were up to something good and my beersticts were dead on .ACS

Had at the event at Doobies for PBW.
A - A pale lemon color brew, yet slightly hazy. There is nice patches of lace left on sides of glass.
S - Strong hints of apple, vanilla, and wood. The bourbon is mellow and nicely intertwined in the nose. No hint of booze.
T - A lot like the nose, however the flavors are very subtle and balanced. Everything blends together. The bourbon though is the least prominent. The apple is strong, and it seems to have a bit of funk.
M - A medium bodied tripel with moderate carbonation.
O - The vanilla comes out more as the beer warms which hints more at the bourbon. A tasty beer, and I'm glad this brewery is close to my home. I love the idea of barrel aging a tripel. Not quite as enjoyable as Curieux, but still good nonetheless.
