First had: on nitro at Blue Dog Tavern, Chalfont, PA
Served in a Phillies pint glass (problem #1), a dark opaque black color with a thin ringlet of bubbles that wisped away to nothing. Nitro? Really? Didn't seem like it. Moderate roast in the nose, muted dark malt sweetness, light notes of coffee and bakers' chocolate. On the palate, a bland maltiness, cream sweetness, diluted chocolate, and an uncomfortable vegetal hop presence in the finish. About medium-bodied, way too thin for a stout, especially one that was supposedly on nitro, served too cold, and just basically a watered-down mess. Maybe it was the fault of the bar/tap line, I don't know. Not a fan.
