Black color. Nice, beige head. Roasted malt, chocolate, and pumpkin spices in the aroma. The same notes in a moderately sweet taste. Nicely balanced. Moderate, roasted bitterness at the end.

16oz can. Bottom stamp reads '23 186 44'.
Deep brown colored body, with a red mahogany back lit edge. Fine bubble, tan colored head which retreats quickly to a ring and some small islands. No lacing.
Aroma of spice - allspice, nutmeg, and cinnamon, sit on top of roasted malts and pumpkin gourd. Some chocolate.
Taste is roasted malts, caramel/molasses, chocolate, and spices - allspice, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Moderately sweet, which enhances the chocolate. Spices are evident but remain in the background, allowing the malts, chocolate, and caramel/molasses to drive the main flavors. Aftertaste gets less sweet and concentrates on the malts, along with the spices.
More than medium mouth feel. Higher ABV% is well hidden and expresses more in the nose. Okay carbonation.
Reminds me of a spiced fall season cordial. Not so sweet dark beer with pumpkin spices.

Pours dark chocolate brown, with a bubbly, dark crema colored less than one finger head. Aroma is nutmeg, pumpkin and chocolate. The body is carbonated and lighter than expected, with the taste profile being chocolate, pumpkin and cinnamon. A nice stout and one of the better pumpkin beers I've had.

Aroma is roasted malts, pumpkin and a hint of coffee. The flavor is slight vegetables, pumpkin and a spicy/allspice/nutmeg/acidic/roasted malt finish.

Served on tap in a snifter
Appearance – The beer is super dark brown, nearly black color with a small head of brown colored foam. The head has a decent level of retention, fading over time to leave tons of sticky spiderweb lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is huge of a roasted and toasted malt smell mixed with a whole lot of chocolate and caramel sweetness. Along with these smells comes big notes of roasted pumpkin and pumpkin spice with cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice all present. Other sweet aromas of molasses and raisin are in there as well, and with a bit of char and smoke, as well as some milk latte like smells, a rather inviting and dark chocolate pumpkin pie like smell is produced overall.
Taste – The taste follows the nose very well, although a little (very little bit) drier than I would have anticipate. There is lots of roasted pumpkin and roasted malt, chocolate, and molasses/caramel upfront, with these flavors creating a backdrop. The spice flavors start out lighter, but get more intense as the taste moves forward. At the same time the sweet gets slightly stronger as more milk chocolate comes to the tongue. A touch of coffee develops along the way as well, giving a bit of bitterness. Some light char, does the same, leaving one with a sweet and roasty dark pumpkin pie taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is thick and creamy with a carbonation level that is low. For the style and the flavors, the feel is great and makes for a nice slow sipper.
Overall – A rather nice dark, roasty, pumpkin brew. Rather big on sweet and spice, but not in a cloying way. A nice cool October dessert sipper to warm you throughout.

From a full pint can, this beer is something. It has a moderately-sized tan head an a serious spice smell....heavy on ginger with a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg. Wow. I'm not really a fan of heavily spiced beers, and this one follows suit. Warmth, spice, and not much else.

Poured from a can. Very dark in color with a thick brown head. Smells of roasted grain, pumpkin, spices, and chocolate. Flavors follow the smell and all come together very well. Ends with a slight smokiness. This beer tastes like fall.

a well aged and cellared pumpkin dark strong ale from a brewery who literally does everything well. this is cocoa colored, past brown, a year or more old, and still frothy and even creamy headed from the bottle, even when we pour it into random glassware and pass it around. this is a neat pumpkin beer, with some interesting spices to it, not sure whats actually in the recipe, but i get black and white pepper, anise and clove, and some nutmeg and cinnamon too, its complex it a cool way, and the darker malts play their part well, dry cocoa, baking chocolate, old ground coffee, and some amount of overt oxidation in this bottle, which has been warm (but dark) in a closet for some time. chocolate, cinnamon, and some burnt squash come into the mix, i like that there is some real pumpkin that can be tasted. i think my brain marvels that this sort of thing has literally become a beer style, but here we are, enjoying it. i wish i was drinking this fresher, but im happy to be drinking it at all. this is a beer thats sort of timeless to me, immediately a classic, because they did it with real ingredients and didnt force it. a cool brew for this time of year, spooky and obviously strong, a beer to cheers with, and cheers we did. perfect for a heavy drinking halloween of course...

finally found myself in a schnucks to get a hold of one of these. love 4 hands 7 buck bombers so of course i'm gonna get it. dumped into a tulip, pitch black like no other beer i've had. khaki head, kinda fluffy that settled into a ring with a good bit of lacing. nose is a slew of spices and pumpkin right off the bat, both kind of even with hints of roasted malts in the background. i always like smelling pumpkin beers more than drinking them and this falls in line, the pumpkin flavor doesn't show until it warms a bit with allspice, vanilla and nutmeg taking the front line over the roasty stout base, the pumpkin does shine nicely once it comes out though and is quite enjoyable. medium-full body, drinks quite smooth but doesn't really leave me with anything. overall solid but not outstanding.
