the newest addition to the Madagascar lineup. We aged our Madagascar Imperial Stout in Bourbon barrels with blackberries, raspberries, and cinnamon. The result is a bright, berry forward beer, with layers of spice, vanilla, chocolate, and Bourbon.

Dark brown with some brick red hints under a short tan head that disperses and dies unevenly.

Very cherry, sticky, sharp, and a touch scratchy, though there is also some vanilla-chocolate.

This will be a little out of character for reviews, but I drank this beer with Do-Si-Do's Girl Scout Cookies. You got berries on my peanut butter...no, you got peanut butter on my berries. Great combination!

On draft at ITap CoMo. Poured an opaque, jet-black color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of blackberries, raspberries, some cinnamon, chocolate and roasted malt. Sweet berry taste with roasted malt, cinnamon and toffee.

2 August 2021 - Beer #251

Received as a gift from the brewery

Remember the Madagascar debacle from October? Well here's part 2 of 4Hands's compensatory gift. Stay classy, 4Hands.

Appearance: 4 - no head to speak of, and looks a little thin. Looks like the OG Madagascar.

Nose: 5 - ooo, is this delightful. I usually don't like fruit in my stouts, and I don't expect to love this, but I could smell it for days. Cinnamon at the fore, supported by heavy fruit.

Taste: 4 - I mean, it's a fruity stout. Not heavy, not roasty, certainly fruity. Very much like pie.

Mouth: 4 - a bit chewy, even though it's pretty thin. I can close my eyes and pretend it's food.

Overall: 4 - a very pleasant dessert sipper. Nothing mind-blowing, but a joy to drink.

Cheers!
