Imperial Hot Chocolate Milk Stout

This beer pours a dark brown colored liquid from a one pint aluminum can. Not much of a head at all. The aroma is sweet…chocolate and marshmallow are center stage. Some malt underneath, but not a lot of depth. The taste is just a little balanced sweet. Not as much as expected. Body is lighter than it should be for the style. I had high expectations but was underwhelmed.

L: Pours a light caramel, forming a moderate khaki head that fades fast. Held to the light, this beer has an opaque, fudge-like chocolate hue.

S: Loads of chocolate, lactose, and marshmallow. Trace vanilla.

T: Chocolate, caramel, and marshmallow. Slightly cloying.

F: Medium-bodied. Thinner, crisp mouthfeel.

O: This beer lacks character and feels artificial. There are more serious options available

Yet another dog shit offering from 4 Hands. I don't know why I keep giving them a chance.

Imperial stout? It's watered down junk. There's nothing "imperial" about this. Notes of chocolate, marshmallow and corn syrup that barely can be detected through the water. You can actually see through this while you're pouring it. That's a first for a supposed imperial.

4 Hands is by far the worst craft brewery in St. Louis, and I don't understand the hype. If you want GOOD beer from the area, get something from Narrow Gauge or 2nd Shift.

 

16oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It left thin lacing on the glass. It smelled of sweet milk chocolate, toffee and caramel. Sweet chocolate taste with some caramel and toffee.
