i bought this can at the 2024 Slipping Into Darkness Stout Festival. It has been on its side in my mini wine fridge for 13 months. Opened on this rainy afternoon and it fits the mood with a little Jazz is Dead from their show here not to long afterwards. Black as used motor oil, but smells far better with hints of berries, chocolate and port. I'm not usually a big rum fan, but that aspect is mellow. Shameless plug warning...try it with a chocolate chocolate chip cookie from Crumbl (just opened in our neighborhood). The chocolate kills some of the alcohol...great combo! Cheers!

Pours dark, minimal head and lacing. Healthy legs while drinking. Strong scents of vanilla, rum, and port barrel with a roasted dark malt background. Tangy notes of dark fruit and port on the taste, vanilla and roasted dark malt on the undercurrent. Boozy, medium bodied, and mouth watering finish. Not bad, but nothing outstanding.

16oz. Can I to a Side Project snifter.

1 finger mocha head that collapses quickly. Thin legs and spotty lace. Color is pitch black. Nose is dried dark fruit, chocolate, lactose, and vanilla. Touch of roast and smoke too. Rather mellow. Beer opens touch of rum, light dark fruit, and chocolate. Roasty in the middle with hints of cocoa and prune. Layers of lactose and a semi-sweet vanilla. Chocolate and more cocoa powder to finish. Body is medium with moderate carbonation. Foamy on the palate. Dry going down. Lingering aftertaste.

This one could be a touch smoother and less carbed.
