This American-Style Brown has hints of chocolate and finishes with a very noticeable hoppiness. Could be described as a dark pale ale.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance was as mostly dark brown color with a light tan foamy head that slid off into some light messy lace. The aroma had some grassy and bitter piney hops over top of some driftwood, nuts and damp cocoa powder. Light minty ending. The flavor leaned upon the sweetness at first on the driftwood, nuts and cocoa powder. That minty-ness came back fresh and sweet and ended up blending decently into the aftertaste. Finish absorbed the mint, driftwood and cocoa powder. The feel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Decent carbonation and the ABV felt good. Not really smooth, but not rough, just felt like a regular brown ale for the most part. Overall, aromas and flavors were quite different than what I’m used to for the style. I almost think it was some sort of homebrew that may have been bought by Harpers just to do something different. I think I’d still have this again.
