According to Scott, this is Harper's Spartan Wheat, hopped up and strengthened. The inspiration is Gumballhead, although I think it goes a step above and beyond. Also, summit hops are used and it's about 1/3 wheat.
Pours cloudy yellow-orange with a nice white head.
Insane citrus red grapefruit smells dominate.
The flavor is all hops. Not extraordinarily bitter, but this beer is best described as hop juice. Utterly fantastic.
The wheat adds some body and softens the hops enough so that they are insane, but thoroughly enjoyable. A fantastic beer, easily the best that Harpers has released. Unfortunately its a rotating offering, so won't be around for long.
