Pours a gold color with a minimal head that lasts quite a while. Aroma of grains and floral notes. Taste is tangy and sweet. Crisp and dry. Enjoyable!

Golden in color, very typical looking wheat beer. A lightly cloudly. Slight head. Average aromas, wheat, slight hops. Little bit of citrusy. Taste is wheaty, slight citrus, slight hops. drinkable... nothing really to write home about. But still an average wheat beer.

Spartan Wheat is a wheat beer with a hop taste to it.
Local East Lansing Beer
Made there in EL
Smell: Wheat and hops
Taste: Wheat and hops
Golden yellow beer
Does not go down smoothly
It is a cloudy beer
Aroma: hoppy
Not my favorite beer
Served on tap, cups are usually very warm

Spartan Wheat has but one note - sweet. It lacks any true citrus flavor and is low on hops. Okay fine, on a second taste, it has a single orange note as well. But it's terrible. I would suggest avoiding this beer unless you don't actually like beer.

Pretty much your standard hefe. The one big difference here is that it omits the typical spices in favor of sweeter flavors.
Aroma is decent. It pretty much sets up the experience.
There are some sour and spicy fruit peel flavors, but it's mostly masked by the sweeter, juicy fruits. A bit of banana blends nicely, but there's little else to balance the sweet flavors.

Spartan Wheat is a very drinkable wheat beer and probably the best beer of the four mainstays at Harper's Brewpub. It pours a rich orange color, usually cloudy and is pretty smooth. You gotta figure this is a college town so the ability to chug a beer is a big factor in every beer they make. But in general this beer will remind you of an oberon or rich wheat not very Hefe at all....a great summer ale.

Orange yellow cloudy pour, with a half inch head.
Spicy, peppery aroma, with a background of citrus. Leaves a huge grainy aftertaste.
Taste is primarily citrus, with a very light banana ester presence.
Not extraordinarily carbonated, medium body. Pretty standard wheat beer, but very approachable and nothing really wrong with it.

Cloudy golden yellow, with a thin white head which disintegrates in seconds. Very low on carbonation unlike traditional wheats. This is fermented with an american ale strain, as there is no cloves or bananas here folks. Long bitter finish, totally inappropriate for a hefeweizen. Also fermented too warm, as there are alot of fusel alcohols here, and their bite becomes more obtrusive as it warms. This more or less tastes like a poorly done ESB that you left your sugarless pink bubblegum in. This also demonstrated the corn taste found in the Harpers light. Not at all pleasant.

Served without a head, this beer was a hazy, typical looking wheat beer. It had a slight lemony nose and not much else. It tasted pretty boring, being a little citrusy with some touches of grain and alcohol. There was a very soft, spicy hop balance which was very slight and fairly well done. Unfortonately, the taste of the alcohol builds over time limiting the drinkability of this beer. This was not a very well constructed beer.
