375 ml corked & caged green bottle, from the Norwegian importer. Brewed 2011, bottled 2014, limited edition. ABV is 5.5%. Deep red colour, pink head. Aroma of ripe cherries (also with hints of over-ripe raspberries), oak and horse stable, also almonds and marzipan. Very sour flavour with overwhelming notes of sour cherries, lemons, almonds and oak.

Bottled in 2017, uncorked in February 2021.
The cork comes loose without so much as a mild pop and the poor is flat, but still a beautiful shade of dark red.
Aroma is sharp, sour cherries with a bit of yeast complexities. It's quite nice but also not very complex.
Flavor is sour cherries up front, more sharply sour cherries in the middle, and then somewhat milder but still very sour cherries on the back with just a bit of bready yeast on the finish.
It's one-dimensional but that single dimension is delectable.

2017 Vintage
Deep saturated crimson color, some fizzy foam but it doesn’t stick around.
Aromas of leather and cherry, slightly acidic.
Sharply sour, cherry vinegar dominates. Finishes dry, some cherry pit and fruit leather oxidation present. Medium bodied, sharp acid, initial carb levels fade quickly. Sour cherry juice impression after awhile. Some vinegar present, acetic acid that’s on the threshold of my tolerance. Thankfully it fades quickly with a pleasant cherry aftertaste. Overall it’s not bad if you’re looking for extra sour, but it’s not the most balanced Oude Kriek.
