This beer comes from the 1926 records of George Harman’s Uxbridge Brewery.
The Christmas brew, a 4.8% bitter with a full body and darker in colour than your average best bitter.
Loaded with hops such as East and Mid Kent Goldings, the 6 different varieties meld together to give a zingy flavour with dry maltiness.
There is then a special spice addition from Africa called Grains of Paradise, which was once banned by King George Ill in the 1700s because it made beer feel stronger than it was.
This tasty little round spice reveals notes of cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, citrus, pepper and mace to the nose and palate all at the same time.
So with the Seville orange flavour, dry maltiness, Grains of Paradise, and the tones of lavender, earthiness, hedgerow hoppiness and zing of the other ingredients, you might just think you’re drinking a traditional Christmas Pudding.
