Pours a deep ruby, head dissipates immediately, mild carbonation. Aroma has lots of wet oak & lacto tart, not much diversity or depth but fine. Palate does more of a raspberry / berry note - almost borders on kool aid sweet - along with lacto/vinegar sourness. Perhaps a bit too lactic but overall pretty good

Poured from a 16.9 oz bottle into a tulip glass.
Pours a foggy mahogany color with a finger of pinkish white head. The head is gone instantly, leaving no lacing as it settles into a halo.
The aroma brings notes of tart raspberries, oak, vanilla, vinegar, and subtle funk.
The flavor follows the nose: Lots of raspberries, some oak and vanilla, vinegar, and crackery malt.
The feel is medium-light bodied with an absurd amount of carbonation. Very crisp and dry, yet a bit harsh on the carbonation.
Overall, a very good wild ale that doesn't really add anything special to the style but still remains flavorful and tart as all hell. Definitely worth trying.

Appearance: Pours with a one finger head perched atop the tawny liquid; decent retention and quite a few squiggles of lace
Smell: Tart raspberry funk with oaky tones
Taste: Tart raspberry juice with sweeter tones developing underneath; funky and oaky, in the middle; while the sweetness lingers, there is plenty of sourness building into the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium body but a bit overcarbonated
Overall: I was told the Briar series was among the best from this brewery and I am looking forward to trying the rest of them
Thanks, ArtAttackEd, for the opportunity

500 ml
Pours a cloudy rosey color. Head is fine and pinkish white, retains as a film.
Smells of fresh raspberry and tart citrus.
Flavor is of citrus, raspberry, strawberry, grassy malt, wild yeast spice, a hint of vinegar, and saltine cracker malt. It has a spicy bite to it.
Body is light to medium with a sharp stinging carbonation on the tongue.
A nice bright lambic-like ale. Forward on the fruit, feels lighter than the strength. Good warm weather sipper and a great fruit beer, avoids the pitfall of feeling medicinal. Worth seeking out for fans of fruit beers and fruit lambics.

500ml bottle, undated, poured into a Hill Farmstead oversized wine glass. Enjoyed on 01.08.2017, reviewed from Tasting Journal.
The beer pours a reddish brown color, very cloudy and hazy with a huge, off white head, easily three fingers, decent retention and lace. The aroma is okay, lots of raspberry juice, syrupy, very sweet, not very "berry" like but more like artificial juice, light brown malts and plenty of funky vinegar. The flavors are very similar, lots of sour raspberry juice, but again, artificial, sweet, sugary, not very jam or flesh like, vinegar, darker malts and light funk. The mouthfeel is very lively, a lighter body, tons of carbonation that is coating, but does need some sturdier legs with a very sour and dry finish.
Verdict: An okay raspberry wild ale from Draai Laag. It's not very complex and the funk character is very underdeveloped, too artificial and an odd mix of sweet and sour, just feels clunky.

Cloudy translucent. peachy purple. Minimal lacing. No head. Not a very fruity smell, but tart smell. Yeast, bitter berry and sour taste. Medium carbonation that is present at the front and end. Pretty dense. Very well done.

A: Slightly murky, but very appealing deep reddish orange with a quickly dissolving head.
S: Raspberry dominates the smell. Slight sour indication but I do not get the vinegar that other have found at all.
T: Slight sour raspberry taste. The sourness is very mild here, and there is no real sweetness. The yeast is also muted, and overall the gentle hand in bringing this together makes for a pleasant beer. I detect no oak whatsoever, despite the fact that this has been aged in oak
F: My bottle is very effervescent despite the quickly disappearing head, unlike what I've read in other reviews. Rather dry, with an almost medium body.
O: I enjoy raspberry as an adjunct to wild ales more than anything else, and this beer did not disappoint as an example of the style. Were I in Pittsburgh when this is next released, I would buy several. I particularly like the fact that this is bottled in the 12 oz. size.
