This was a 2019 bottle purchased from the brewery in 2020, stored at 50° F. Opened on Inauguration Day 2021. This is a wonderful version of a higher-end Flanders red ale, like a Rodenbach Grand Cru. Nicely woody, fruity, and chocolatey, with a sourness tempered by a little mouth coating lactic acid. They really hit the mark on this one.

Appearance: A hard pour produces a thin head that fades to a film; no lacing

Smell; Acetic and vinegary, with green apple tones and just a hint of fig

Taste: Sharply acetic, at the outset; no real flavor development but the there is a distinct green apple tone; a hint of sweet fig is not enough to come to the fore

Mouthfeel: Flat with a medium body

Overall: A fail, I am afraid - perhaps I got a bad bottle
