Imperial Stout (not sour!) aged in 3-year-old Wheat Whiskey casks conditioned on hand roasted Sonora Almonds.
Fruity soft aromas of Wheat Whisky and Amaretto, open into almond torte cake, biscotti's and rich chocolate fudge brownies. The initial mouthfeel is full, comparable to melted ice cream, with flavors of roasted almonds and pastries (reminiscent of lady finger cookies), fading into malted toffee, hot cocoa, oaky vanilla and a bright caramel. The finish is spicy whiskey forward with a lingering chocolate liquor sweetness.

500 ml bottle
Pours opaque black, miniscule tan ring for a head.
Aroma of cocoa, vanilla, almond, toast, molasses, and honey.
Flavor is of rich cocoa, molasses, caramel, coffee, plum, almond, and cream.
Full viscous body, stinging carbonation on the tongue. Warms going down.
This is really quite good. When SR first branched out into non-sour styles, I had mixed feelings. But they've really managed to start cranking out solid non-sour beers and this stout is fantastic. I'll be looking forward to having this one again in the future.
