On tap at Phantom Canyon brewpub on 8/13/10. A bit of info from the brewery web site:

"1941 New Yorker Beer, originally brewed by Fidelio Brewery, NYC. This beer comes from a very interesting period: June 1941. Just a few months before the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. It gives a good idea of what post-Prohibition brewing was like."

A - Hazy pale golden liquid with subtle carbonation and a thin patchy white film on top that reduced to some spotty lace.

S - Fruity, citrusy hops with a clean malt profile suggesting a hint of bread and toasted grains.

T - Flavor paires fruity notes - apple, pear, grape and citrus fruit - with toasted grains and a bready malt base.

M - Medium bodied with a light syrupy texture and clean, fairly crisp mouthfeel. Finishes with a hint of hop bitterness and fair amount of sweetness on the palate.

D - Tasty session lager that is fresh and easy to quaff. This one offers a good balance of flavors and remains sessionable throughout.

Up for review is the 1941 New York Beer from Phantom Canyon brewing company. Served in a pint glass, too cold for $2.50 during happy hour. Regular price is $4.00. Not a bad lager. Decent balance of grains. Drinks nice, but not too much going on here. Go get some, try it for yourself.
