Pours a tawny light brown with a thick tan head that fades fast and leaves minimal lace.
The aroma is of nutty, fresh grain, a hint of chocoalte, and loads of citrus and earth.
The flavor follows with a nutty backbone and citrus finish. Orange peel, lemon zest, caramel notes and earthy hints.
Overall, nicely balanced on the zesty/citrus side with caramel backnotes.
Easy to drink, and enjoyable.

First had: on tap at their brewpub
This is an imperial amber ale using their Cascade Amber as a base. Poured into a snifter, a dark, chestnut brown with a ringlet of white foam for a head. Aroma of caramel malts, booze, and earthy hops. Taste was nutty, earthy, with flavors of sweet malts, some hop bitterness, peat, and a bit of Scotchy booze. On the heavy side of medium bodied, a bit strong tasting, but still pretty drinkable.
