Appearance: Cloudy, brownish orange body. Head is off-white disappears quickly leaving only a light cap. It does leave nice rings down the pint glass. Nice downward cascade of the head after the beer is drawn.
Smell: Light, sweet
fruitiness. No noticeable hop aroma.
Taste: Peach and apricot up front. Light malt sweetness. Not much bitterness at the finish.
Mouthfeel: Light, a bit watery.
Overall: A cask ale poured from a drawn from a hand-pumped beer engine. The bar's beer menu put this under "cask ale" and called it a "winter ale". Named after a Monty Python character.
The beer itself is so-so. Interesting flavor with the fruit overtones. Not really in-your-face, rather subtle, yet this isn't what I would consider a winter beer. Perhaps another visit and another glass or two may bring more into perspective.
