never seen these guys around in the states before, so cool to encounter this on tap. i am surprised it has a bad rating, i thought it was a nice beer, albeit a little simple and straight forward for a wild beer, but very drinkable, dry, and upbeat. the brett tastes kind of dusty to me, past mature to almost stale or tired, although the beer itself is really lively, effervescent, and clean. its interesting, funky and grassy, native they say, and this is indeed somewhat different than the cultured brett strains we are used to here in the states, but only moderately different all told. rustic and funky, less hoppy than expected but i like the bitterness aspect here instead of the american way, which seems to be juicy dry hopping in the place of bittering hops, this is refreshingly old school in that way. a little pale malt, maybe a bit of wheat, slight wet cardboard or wet newspaper, must, orchard fruit, light white pepper and a saison type yeast element with it, a decidedly english graininess, relaxed body, and quick finish. an interesting beer and a unique fermentation here, drinkable beer too, better than its ratings, id like to try more stuff from redchurch! weird in a good way this one...
