i was so stoked to see a collaboration with alvinne, who i have loved for a long time! this is a brett sour ale with tart gooseberries in it, and i think its one of their more refined sours we had here, although it still lacks carbonation, as most of them did that we had. this is also really sour, but its got a little more balance and complexity to it than the others, maybe some of the alvinne culture in the mix, im not sure how they did it, but there is more brett to this, and more of a clean acidity than the other urban farmhouse series beers had. the gooseberries add a neat white and green grape thing, skins and tartness, but also a fleshy almost vegetal element that somehow works beautifully with the citrus nuances of the bacterial component and the funkiness. more carbonation would really help this, but i like the flavor balance with the prominent wheaty base and the fruit playing supporting roles to the fermentation profile. id be curious to see how a bottle of this ages over time, but overall it was one of the better redchurch sours we had on our trip. not as compelling as much of the alvinne stuff has been on its own, but i think its neat they got involved with this one, fun stuff!
