L'Espace Public-Brasseurs de quartier "Mon Amie Abbey"
on tap at the brewery on 6 October 2014
$4.25 / verre
Notes: Listed at 4.5% ABV, and as "Mon Amie Abbey (Sour)". I was expecting more of an Abbey ale but I've obviously missed something in the translation as this is a gose. It's a hazy yellow white beneath a white head with OK head retention and lacing. There's some sulphur in the nose over a mineralish wheaty malt base with just a hint of an acidic "tang" and some subtle banana and clove and "smoky" burnt-plastic phenols. Not surprisingly the flavor follows: lightly sweetish grainy malt, salt, acidity. Light bodied with a standard carbonation. It's a pretty decent take on the style. Nicely done.
