Strawberry Milkshake DIPA

Pours an extremely clouded light orange, with a hint of pinkish tint from the strawberries. Given how strawberry seeds can produce undesired bitterness, I'm guessing from the color that the fruit was cut to remove the red exterior (and seeds) before macerating. (Take this with a large grain of salt; I'm not a brewer.) A full finger of head on the thick liquid leaves little retained foam but some legs when swirled, more than expected given the 8.1% abv. Strong bitterness on the palate that is somewhat ameliorated by the sweetness of the fruit. Having had the sweet cherry and raspberry/blackberry variations, I would say that this is quite consistent with other fruited IPAs in the series, but the strawberry is less prominent--perhaps this would improve in future batches that are timed closer to the local strawberry season.

 

 

 

16 oz can November 4, 2017. Canned on 9/28/17. Look is hazy. Smells and tastes like a McDonald's strawberry milkshake. Feel is smooth and creamy. Interesting.

Cloudy golden orange color, slightly off-white head. Aromas are heavy citrus - orange, passion fruit, and pineapple. There's also a hint of the strawberry.

The taste is the citrus up front, but the strawberry is the star - rich berry flavor, with some sweetness from the lactose.

Probably my favorite hoppy beer from Bare Hands. That's saying something.
