Thanks to Ovaltine for this one, as part of an uncalled for attack during NBS BIF #15. 16oz can (no date) poured into 14oz teku. Poured a dense brown/red color with 1-1/2 inches of khaki head that had good retention and very light lacing.
The aroma had a solid malt base and a notable citrus hop presence.
Very similar on the tongue; medium-full grain flavors countered with bright, bold hops gave multiple aspects to enjoy.
The body was fuller than medium, smooth (with a touch of hop coarseness), and had a finish that started a bit sweet, but dried out quickly and nicely.
Drinkability was very good, the kind of OG Red Ale/Amber/Red IPA we don't see much in the current flood of joosey brews.
Overall, a nicely enjoyable brew. Most certainly worth your time if you see it.

Dark cloudy brown with nice hint of red, dense soapy bubble head.
Beautiful nose on this beer…a very sappy and deep malty sweet aroma, somewhat toasted in quality, and some orange peels.
Really nice maltiness, it’s deep and rich without being sweet in anyway. It is the perfect combination with sappy and citrus peel.
Medium bodied, resin hop feel on the tongue, great sharp grapefruit like lingering and high bitterness on the finish.

Pours a reddish brown with a tan head. Lovely. Fruity hop notes on the nose, and some resiny pine as well, and a wheel barrel full of caramalt.
The fruit hops dominate the taste up fromt, and the caramalt flavor is a really nice balance, but the mouthfeel is not as substantial as I’d like for the style. Still a really nice sipper for a chilly fall evening.

Seeing the label text describing a "red IPA," I was expecting maybe a hoppy amber or Irish red. Instead, this is something a bit different entirely, and an interesting take. Grapefruit and pomelo on the nose--strong bitterness, but balanced by Captain's wafer crackers and a touch of plum. Bitter citrus and floral hops on the palate competing against malted grains and a light touch of smoke. Moderately full body and a delicate, sweet finish.
