Pouring this beer from a 16 oz. can into a Willi Becher glass this beer pours out like juice being a completely hazed shade of orange and forms a rocky and large two finger width crown. Leaves lacing behind in the glass the whole way through. (4.25)
The smell comes in with grapefruit and orange peel. A rather unique smell, even for a NEipa, because I've never experienced this much "peel" element come through. (3.75)
The taste has a prominent grassy/piney presence once again mixing with orange peel. (3.5)
The mouthfeel is not as soft as most of the style and noticeably more dry. Almost too dry for my liking. It has a bit of an alcohol warmness in there as well and could do down smoother. (3.5)
Overall, this wasn't too bad but it's not something I would call great either. I like some unique elements I found in it but think it could use more balance and less sharpness. (3.5)

I'm rating this the same as the original Westy, although they are certainly not identical beers. This is a bit bolder and fuller in flavor, but it loses a bit of complexity in trade. The New Westy is maltier and leans heavier in the grapefruit direction, in terms of its citrus brightness. Still really good, but for different reasons!

This is a glass of grapefruit juice in my glass, very hazy, but not milkshake hazy. A soapy, off-white head caps this lovely beer. The nose has dank citrus aromas in abundance, with grapefruit and juicy pineapple most prominent, but there’s a dose of passion fruit and prickly pear as well.
The dank hop notes dominate the taste as well, with juicy notes all around. The mouthfeel has a bit of a bite, wish there was a smidge more, but it still finishes fairly dry. An outstanding update to an excellent beer (the original Westy IPA).
