Cloudy golden yellow body with a finger of persistent white head, which laces a little. Aroma of grain, coriander and orange. Very smooth wheat backbone, and prominent coriander flavour with lemon and orange in the finish. Near perfect carbonation and body. This fits the bill of a wheat beer for me because its so refreshing and thirst quenching without punching you in the face with anything too out there. This all adds up to make this a perfect summer brew and a fine beer for a session. County Durham couldn't make a bad beer if they tried! Perhaps the best and most consistent brewery in the province?

On cask at Volo.

Pours a cloudy yellow, very thick white head forms, slowly settles dropping some constant lace, settles to a medium layer, great retention, looks real good. Smell is okay, wheat, oats, some light caramel sweetness, citrus, vanilla, light banana and spice, not very witbier like. Taste is some light banana, honey, vanilla, oats, wheat, sweet finish, some lemons, quite dry. Mouthfeel is light bodied with low carbonation, super smooth, lingering sweetness but still quite dry, very quenching.

On tap at C'est What. Cloudy yellow with moderate white head. Lacey. Some yeast puffs up the mouthfeel. A bit sour, bit lemony but otherwise not that flavourful, yet quite drinkable because of its freshness, and the hot spell. A fair wit, and average beer.

sampled on cask at volo may 9/08.

pours pale hazy yellow with a big dense white head. the head seems to last forever, leaving tons of lace the whole way down the glass.

aroma is ok. bit of caramel. very light spice. touch of orange peel. earthy, almost musty character that i'm not really enjoying. overall it just seems a little flat.

taste is ok. hints of caramel. very faint spice. bit of orange peel. bit of bread. very low bitterness level. fairly mellow, almost bland. that bit of earthy/musty character seems to be here too, but less than in the aroma.

mouthfeel is good. light well integrated very fine carbonation. nice light body.

drinkability is ok. not wowed by it, and mostly unoffensive, i just expected more from it. i've been told that the brewer felt it didn't quite have the "punch" he wanted, and he'd like to kick it up a little next time. i'll be looking to re-review this one at a later date.
