On-draught @ the brewery. $5 per pint.
Lactobacillus bacteria and brettanomyces bruxellensis yeast are evident judging by the moderate sourness and obvious funkinness in play. Acidity isn't too high nor is tartness. Blackberry presence is poor.
Slightly smacky. Smooth. Wet. Unrefreshing. Medium-bodied. Well-carbonated.
It's drinkable and ticks the boxes it needs to to satisfy style conventions, but I can't say it's anywhere close to world class for a fruited sour. Give me Blue Owl or Jester King over this locally.
Nice but not great. Good to see another sour programme in Austin, but please give us oak, actual obvious blackberry, and pediococcus bacteria and/or Lambicus yeast for a start.
