Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours an orange copper color with a one finger head of off white foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a light sum of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is mostly of a lightly toasted malt aroma mixed with smells of harvest fruits and dark fruits as well as a rather sizable amount of some odd funk smells. The funk is rather off putting, and combined with a little band-aid like smell, it produces a rather non appealing smell overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a toasted and roasted malt flavor mixed with some caramel and brown sugar sweetness as well as some flavors of molasses and some apple and cherry. There is a touch of wheat and grain upfront which grows stronger as the taste advances. At the same time the harvest fruit gets stronger and is joined by more caramel and roast, leaving one with a slightly more roasty and moderately sweet taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the slightly thicker and chewier side with a carbonation level that is rather average. For the style the feel is good and makes for an easy drinker.
Overall – Other then the off smell the brew is good.
