Part of the single hop project from Way Beer, for a taste session of Citra, Cascade and Amarillo single hop American Pale Ales.
Amber color poured 3 fingers of head with bubbles that glued to the glass walls, medium retention. This one presented some floating particles.
Mild floral and vanilla-honey aroma. More subtle aroma between the other single hops.
Hoppy and bitter taste, though quite malty compared to the other versions. Hints of resin and grapefruit.
Medium to full body with low carbonation.
Among the three, this was the one that least shined given its average character across the board.

Way makes an excellent American Pale Ale with three different hops. With their single hop project, they have made three different beers with the three different hops, akin to Mikkeller's single hop IPA's. Coming first is the Cascade version from a stubby 310 ml bottle (thanks Sergio!), on to the beer:
The color is a brownish orange with light lacing sticking around and a soapy head with decent retention topping it. The nose doesn't show much hoppiness, but is good nonetheless. Some diacetyl leads it off, quickly coming into play is honey and then we get a light floral note. In fact, it smells more like an English Bitter than an American Pale Ale.
More malty than hoppy, the Cascade verison shows little bits of itself throughout. Some lemon and light floral notes are painted into the canvas of graham cracker, which is really the main player. Rather clean with a moderate crispness and soft bitterness.
A pleasant enough beer. It's not the hop explosion you can get from fresh kegs of the original, but I'll still drink this. The weakest of the three single hop versions.
