In the viewpoint of Way, making a Belgian IPA must be too mainstream. Instead, they made a Belgian India Dark Ale, a twist which I haven't seen or heard in the US. On the label looks like Buddha riding a roller coaster with a trail of hops behind. Coming from a 310 ml bottle (thanks Sergio!), on to the beer:

No lying in the name, it's dark. Black as ink and topped with a semi-creamy half-inch of head. The head retention is solid and it leaves small webs of lace. The aroma is a mixed bag. What makes it good is the pleasant note of dark malt, giving it a chocolate-like aroma, a kiss of hops, while the bad brings a medicinal note.

The bottle I have does have a few months on it. There isn't significant action with the hops, but it does have a pleasant overall flavor. The sweet malt base brings cocoa, bittersweet chocolate, a kiss of prunes. Not too sweet thankfully. In fact, the base reminds me some of their Cream Porter. It's a medium-full bodied beer which is also quite smooth.

Not much "India" personality, but who needs it? It's a good drinking beer without it.

Black color with a thick beige head with good retention and leaving lots of laces.
Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malt and earthy and herbal hops.
Predominant hoppy flavor with an initial spicy bite. Notes of roasted malts, coffee, creamy chocolate and herbal and earthy hops. Hints of Belgian yeast and caramelized sugar. Dry and bitter aftertaste with a lingering chocolate note.
Light body with medium carbonation.
A very pleasant beer, creativity paid off here. Consistent beer across all grades and very flavorful and hoppy, though not aggressive. One of the best from Way beer.
