a fine specimen here and something slightly different than us customary in the style. its got a bit more substance to it on the wheat side than a lot of these, but is more tidy and less estery on the ferment, so the wheat factors in more in the taste, but its still a wit type strain, casting unique pear and green apple notes, and is quite drying in here. what makes it even more interesting is the fruit, cara cara oranges, tangerines, and peaches, the last of which is uncommon for sure, and this is outwardly fruity, a touch sweet in places, but balanced too thanks to the fuller wheat character, i think its awesome for summer, not overly flavored, but distinctive for sure. not perfumy but very aromatic to me, the oranges are sweet and summery and sort of feminine in here, while the wheat is short of toasted but hits earthy and nutty, subtle white wine to me, smells a little lighter than it looks with some definite wheat haze in this, darker than blonde, average head, better than average carbonation, which is key for me in the style, i love when these pop. up front fruit derived sweetness in the flavor, all the peach is later, citrus first for sure, some lemon to me too, again with the white wine grapes, subtle grapefruit too, right before it gets too sweet it turns slightly tangy, a nice way to keep this drinkable and refreshing, and it suggests real fruit, more authentic late than it is earlier and in the aroma. a cool take on wit, sort of a hybrid with a fruited wheat style, as the yeast is subtle and the fruit is robust, soft and sudsy feeling, nice for this time of year and fairly original. i was impressed with the beers i had in here!
