Appearance - Pours dark, rustic brown with a khaki, half finger width head. Fair retention before it dissipates to a thin, broken layer of suds with a chunky ring of suds around the edge of the glass. Not much for lacing aside from a few tiny spots.

Smell - Brown sugar, molasses / sugary caramel and a touch of pecan nuttiness.

Taste - Follows the nose. Sugary, cola-like sweetness with molasses and hints of burnt malt, while pecan character comes through decently

Mouthfeel - Near full-bodied with moderate carbonation. Sticky texture that goes down smooth, but quickly turns bone dry and what's left on the lips and tongue turns harsh.

Overall - A rare miss from Track 7. Unfortunately more cola-like in sweetness than anything 'grandma's pie'. High Water's attempt at a similar 'pecan pie' style brew was nearly perfect, and puts this one to shame. T7 should either forget about this one or refine it. The recipe as is simply does not work. Cultural Appropriation is a somewhat appropriate name for this brew; it seems they attempted to pull off a style that they did not fully comprehend.

I'll save my final review for the final can that I have of this beer. Initial synopsis thus far is that I found the beer a bit too sweet initially for it's thin body. The pecan contribution was far more evident early on (think less than 10 days). As the beer has aged the sweetness has lessened, but as has the contribution from the pecan to the taste (the nose aspects remain). I found the pecan character to be the only fairly unique attribute to a beer I find thin for the style and ABV. To be honest, right now, I'd rather seek out the Bad Conduct offering from Fieldwork over this. And its not even close. Will finalize my notes review after my final can.
