Appearance - Poured into a large tulip, black and with a tan, frothy, two finger width head. Good retention before dying down to a thin, broken layer of suds with a fair ring around the edge of the glass.
Smell - Picking up chocolate mostly, with lesser roast, almost some milky cream as well.
Taste - Follows the nose. Hits first with chocolate and dark roastiness, then hints of smoke/char and light caramel sweetness emerge by mid-taste. Faint trace of dark fruit in the finish. Aftertaste lingers with a balance of the aforementioned.
Mouthfeel - Medium-to-full in body with fair carbonation. Really smooth, with a bit of creaminess, makes with a real nice, easy drinker.
Overall - No fancy ingredients here, just a really nice, classic American imperial stout.

Honestly, this is a really, really good imperial stout. Rich chocolate and roast -very smooth with a little bit of hop bite. This is what I'm looking for in any imperial stout or even my coffee. Underrated. Should be brewed again.

Very dark and strong, smoky and chocolate bitterness. It’s a great stout with a kick.

Poured from a 1 day old crowler. Pours a viscous, dark as the night crude oil color with virtually no head or lacing. Nose is earthy, roasty malt and whiffs of hops. Taste follows with more of each. Believe this to be the base for several past IS releases.
