I'm partial to rye/whiskey/scotch ales and this one is terrific. Cahaba Brewing doesn't always brew it, which is a shame. I love the balance between malt and hops. They call it a "stout" but it's not overwhelming. Cahaba Brewing does a great job with balance in an industry where breweries tend to over-hop their beers. If I could choose one beer to drink the rest of my life, this would be it. I should add that, surprisingly, the alcohol content is low, so I can drink more of them!

On tap at the brewery.
A: Black with some brownish tinting. A mocha colored half finger head that lingers. Curtainy lacing.
S: The rye definitely pops up, along with coffee and chocolate.
T: I love me some rye in my stouts and this one delivers nicely. Chocolate malts and coffee blend in for a tempting stout. A slightly bitter finish.
M: Medium to heavy with medium carbonation.
O: Another winner from that little brewery in Birmingham. Can't wait for them to start canning.
