An American IPA in the truest sense. The straightforward Oka Uba is loaded up with classic hops at the end of the boil and then dry hopped for an earthy and slightly citrusy flavor and aroma. This gorgeous IPA illuminates an orange and red hue in the light. The name is derived from the indigenous word for the Cahaba river and can be translated to "the Water Above."

light head with an aroma of lemon and pine, taste is very hop forward and somewhat unbalanced. very thin mouthfeel with minimal aftertaste alcohol is hidden for a 7.5 abv, a middle of the deck ipa at best would not likely by again

Had Oka Uba at the Cahaba Taproom, Birmingham, Ala., on draft into Cahaba-branded Rastal Craft Master Grand 16-oz. Beer Glass.
Pours deep gold with clarity and 1- to 2-finger, creamy off-white head, with excellent retention, leaving a thick coating of Belgian lace down the glass. Aromas of bitter herbals, pine, hop spice and grapefruit off pour, with spice aroma continuing, and the grapefruit turning orange-y. On tasting, begins smooth and creamy, but with immediate, big hop bite, which turns resinous, then big grapefruit and sweeter orange flavors arrive, over a mild malt body, all leading into a creamy, but ever growing more bitter finish.
Nice weight to what is--yes, the brewer's puffery is correct--a very American IPA, brewed with some of the most American of hops, in Columbus and Cascade.

Very sweet but very good malts used here. Hops come thru on back end. This is a really good overall IPA

Oka Uba has a medium, white head and a translucent gold-orange appearance, with moderate lacing. The aroma is of white bread crust, resins, and spiced bread. The flavor is similar, with building bitterness. Oka Uba has a medium body and a mostly-dry finish.

A - Pours out orange and clear. White head is substantial and persistent, leaving a thick cap, with lots of lacing.
S - Pine and lemon citrus, with a honey sweetness below.
T - Bright candied lemon, pine and mint herbal notes, and a moderately bitter bite of pith and heavily steeped tea.
M - Brisk carbonation, middle of the road weight, dry but clean finish.
O - Decent. A nice IPA that offers old school Eastern IPA notes, and is a fun clean drinkable beer.

Totally drinkable IPA having now on draft in Montgomery AL. Straw in color with decent lacing. Nice pungent hoppy nose. Lots of hop balanced with dry fruit. This is a uniquely dry IPA in the face of a whole that’s gone mad for juicy.

A signature IPA for this brewery, this has a very nice bite to it. Not much atoma to speak of, a little citrus? But the golden color is gorgeous. Overall a very solid IPA.

One of the very few IPA beers that get the hops just right. Too many others overwhelm your pallet. Cahaba Brewing found the perfect balance.
