Label stamped as bottled in September — and the following is not a typo — 2016. I like the organization and dedication to provision labels a couple years ahead. Tasted alongside another from this brewery labeled 2012 so who knows. Anyway, these notes are from before I checked the label, and I'm hoping it was just an off example, but I'll leave these notes with the hope of revisiting with a better example another time. This one was a gusher, spewing most of the beer into the sink with a whoosh of bread and banana smells. After the remaining 1/3 settled down in the glass, it glowed a bright brassy gold, heavily sedimented from the, um, helpful mixing of the contents after uncapping. The head surprisingly dark, almost sabayon-colored. Nose of banana, sawdust, mint. Sweet, yellow fruit flavors up front — bananas and apricot — plus a root beer-y note, a fruity sour edge, little balancing hops. The mouthfeel has a burst of carbonation, little coating or body.
