On tap at Mr Brews in Melbourne FL twice. On the first visit I wrote:
Appearance. Pours with a very dark ruby- brown body and no head.
This is an exceptionally boozy beer. Although the 12% ABV is partially hidden in the mouthfeel, both the aroma and the flavor suggest an ABV significantly higher than 12%. Too boozy but otherwise a good version of the style. It improved with some warming.
On the venous occasion, I liked the beer less and adjusted some ratings downward:
Draft served in a snifter at Mr. Brews in Melbourne Florida.
This arrived with no head and a dark body that is almost opaque. Holding it to the light revealed a clear, dark, reddish-brown body.
Whole the aroma reflects a pleasing mix of bourbon barrel, bourbon, and strong dark ale notes, the flavor is unbalanced. It tastes too much like someone added bourbon to a dark ale. Likewise, it is quite boozy.
Overall. Not bad but certainly disappointing.

Wife ordered a bottle which we shared. Much better than normal den 12, with the bourbon bringing out the fig, malts and molasses more. The booze is hot though, so some aging could help a lot. Somewhat woody in texture. Could be cleaned up with some more dark flavored depth

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
