This is a good representation, albeit not a great one, of the APA style.

L: Clear amber in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high off white head that dissipated quickly. Good lacing.
S: Moderate aromas of earthy yeast are present in the nose along with notes of tropical fruits, especially grapefruit.
T: Follows the nose. You also get mangos and pineapples. A good beer to pair with desserts.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a refreshing and easy to drink APA.

On tap at Beachwood BBQ poured into half size ale glass. Clear copper color with off-white head that leaves lacing all the way down. I was informed this brew uses an experimental hop that imparts a strawberry aroma/flavor. I put the hop aroma closer to melon. There is also some biscuit malt. Flavors include melon, red berry, caramel sweetness, light hop bitterness. Light bodied with thin texture, average carbonation, and an abrupt finish.

Enjoyed from the small bomber in a snifter, this APA pours a beautiful bronze with a rich fluffy white head and great lacing. Nose of bready malts and yeast, solid grain background, and sumptuous grapefruit. Flavors follow the nose with sweet malts to all sides interplaying with grapefruit and citrus hop notes. A nice grain flavor comes through on the back and blends nicely with a breaded malt characteristic that is not overly cloying. Wet lightly sweet citrus finish makes this one an easy drinker and a great harvest/APA to contend with a light alcohol kick. Nice

Rich amber, fluffy off white foam. Candy like front, ripe star fruit. Same sweetness with a mild malt finish.

a very dynamic pale ale, this has beer a great series so far, and its always nice to see anchor making new beer. i know they get credit for being one of the original craft brewers, but they also deserve credit for being one of the continuing best. they have defined styles for decades, and this new pale is a really awesome brew. its called an american style, and i get that with all the hops, but its also a little english in the sense than its got all this grain balance to it, and the almost cask like feel to it. beautiful crimson color on it, clear and shiny, with a big frothy white head thats rich and lasting at about an inch. it smells a little subdued, more malt than hops in the nose, and an unexplained berry or dried fruit essence right in the middle. the flavor really unfolds a pretty layered and complex brew for a pale ale. the grains a sweet but clean in the beginning, lots of weight to it, and different, not sure what they used in this. there is still a little bit of a fruity middle, more of a red apple thing this time, with the hops being mostly in the finish, a little grassy, and quite bitter. the feel is awesome, foamy and thick, but still finishing really clean. its familair to other anchor beers, in line with their quality standards and the yeast seems like some of their other beers too, distinct but not invasive. i love anchor, and even though they dont get much hype anymore, its beers like this that prove they are still near the top of the heap.

On-tap at Rosamunde Sausage Grill, Brooklyn, NY

A: The beer is clear amber in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high off white head that died down, consistently leaving a short head covering the surface and a thick coating of bubbles down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of earthy yeast are present in the nose along with notes of tropical fruits.
T: Like the smell, the taste is quite fruity and has flavors of tropical fruits such as mangos and pineapples.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a refreshing and easy to drink pale ale that is filled with pleasant flavors of tropical fruits.
