Like Anchor¹s Liberty Ale®, Double Liberty IPA is made with 2-row pale malt and whole cone Cascade hops. Unlike Liberty Ale, Double Liberty has double the hops and double the International Bitterness Units (90 IBUs), imparting uniquely complex flavors and dry-hop aromas.

Amber color. Medium-sized, off-white head. Caramel malt and pine in the aroma. Sweet caramel has a taste balanced with tons of hop. Full body. Long-lasting bitterness in the aftertaste

Another review from June 12, 2016, in whatever hotel casino that is in the background w the marble countertops.
I think when Anchor was sold yet again, someone in power was like "new recipes" and all these good but not groundbreaking ones like this dropped and then seemed to go away overnight.
Pours a caramel like color and almost that kind of viscosity. Right away it announces itself as a maltyboi. Firm head on it, big on retention, off white, 3/4" deep. Aroma was all cascade hops and crystal malt heft. Trees and grapefruit at every whiff.
Taste was closer to Bigfoot than Anchor Steam or even OG liberty ale, heck I don't think this even has liberty hops. The commercial tug job might say that it doesn't taste or feel like 90ibu, but I disagree. It does. But there is also this sticky, thick crystal malt like heft that keeps it both bitter and heavy for a double ipa. Even though OG Liberty Ale isn't "hoppy" by today's standards, I still prefer it to this.

Bottle picked up at Total Wine in Spokane.. Pours slightly hazy golden with a long lasting white head.. perfumy fruity hops.. seem a bit stewed.. Big apricot hoppiness with some background piney notes.. really not that good at all.. Doesn't seem like a DIPA except in the most "average" circumstances..

Easily the most ballsy beer to come out of Anchor in a very long time. Aged in Old Portrero barrels makes this kind of "boozy." A good, solid contender worthy of your time. Doubtful it will become many people's go-to double IPA, but would drink it again every once in a while.
