Blackberry Daze IPA™ is a synergistic union of blackberries and hops. Because the blackberry was once wildly rampant in California, it is our ideal choice for this singular Anchor brew.

Blackberry Daze IPA gets its hop bitterness and some hop aroma in the brewhouse, but most of the action happens in the cellar when the fruit is added during secondary fermentation. A special blend of loamy, herbaceous hops for dry-hopping complements the brightness and deep complexity of the blackberries. The result is a funky synthesis of rich earth and ripe fruit, hop bitterness and blackberry tartness, with alluring color and aromas up front, sublimely intense flavors, and a refreshingly dry finish.

The appearance of Blackberry Daze IPA is unique and unexpected as it features a ruby, blush pink color not found in your typical IPA. The packaging artwork displays a psychedelic label design that visually reiterates the beer’s alluring combination of hops and blackberries.

Copper color. Beautiful, white head. Malt, blackberries, and pine. The flavor of blackberries, tropical fruits, and malt. Decent hoppy bitterness and some acidity in taste

A 355ml bottle with a BB of Jan 2020. Purchased recently from Trembling Madness in York. Described on the label as a blackberry IPA that is cold-infused with the fruit during secondary fermentation.

A: Poured into an IPA glass. Bottle conditioned. A deep, hazy marmalade-orange hue with fine sediment and intense carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a while before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing.

S: Aroma of vague leafy hops with hints of grass/hay, subtle herbs, faint weed, mild blackberry juice, earthiness, ale yeast and a twinge of cardboard in the background. So-so; lacklustre hop profile and a stale quality.

T: Tastes of mild leafy hops with notes of hay, subtle herbs, light weed, blackberries, earthiness, faint ale yeast, a hint of grain and a touch of cardboard in the background. Quite dry, followed by a moderate hop bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with fizzy carbonation and decent body. Could be a shade thicker for the strength. Lightly astringent. Aftertaste of bitter leafy hops, earthiness, blackberries, ale yeast, faint grain and cardboard.

O: OK but falls short of expectations. Looks great, while the aroma and flavour are a rather tired blend of harsh leafy hops, blackberries, earthy yeast and faint malt. Stale notes lurk in the background. Body is alright. Not sure if the bottle is old or defective or what, but this isn't particularly amazing. The hops and fruit clash rather than complement one another. A nice idea in need of better execution - caveat emptor.

L: amber with a light purple tint and a light haze permeated by streams of rapidly rising bubbles under a 2" off-white can with good retention

S: Blackberry aromas dominate joined by medium low biscuit and hop aromas

T: Blackberry leads the palate especially on the finish

F: The creamy, effervescent beer has a medium body and above average carbonation

O: This very drinkable beer has an exquisite texture and a snappy, dry finish

the blackberry is quite strong from start to finish. you either want that or you don’t. i feel like there’s a good ipa under that flavor here, and i don’t know that the blackberry is a great addition to that. i’m a bit on the fence. i will definitely try this again at some point.

Okay my review somehow timed out here and got lost due to a refresh so I am typing it again as much as I can remember.
I was a bit wondering about this blackberry IPA for knowing the other "fruit infused" stuff from Anchor, them blood oranges and mangoes that went not all the time without criticism. Anchor can make great IPAs, why bringing the fruits in - one could think.
This is the first pink(ish) IPA and you csn see/feel that at one point real fruit was put into the brew. You might argue why the berries were put into there but actually it made me feel a bit nostalgic as it creates a feeling of some kind of funky, raw home-made fruit juice that turned into wine by mistake...
It was okay once but I'm one of those guys who believe that Anchor would be better off without their fruity stuff...

From cervezasespeciales. In Teku glass. Watching Flash 1x04. Like liberty ale with some blackberries that give it a slightly tart touch. High carbonation that seems to flatten it. Nothing outstanding

L: Hazy amber color, two finger off white head, ok lacing, light carbonation.

S: Hops, fruits. Nice.

T: Blackberry, fruity, hoppy, bitter. It does taste like blackberry, if you enjoy that. I don't, so much.

F: Medium bodied, lots of flavor.

O: This beer tastes exactly as advertised. If you love blackberry, you will love this beer.

Hazy amber color with a thick thin head with short retention.
Nice aroma with notes of fresh herbal hops, blackberries and malt sweetness.
Flavor with notes of blackberries (lots of it), Anchor yeast, herbal and earthy hops, a bit of medicine, grapefruit and tea leaves. Quite dry aftertaste with a nice bitterness.
Bordering medium body with appropriate carbonation. Alcohol of 6.5% felt a couple of points lower.
American IPA with intense dark fruit and tea notes. It felt like the Liberty Ale with a good deal with blackberries.
