Anchor Gold is a throwback American beer- light golden color, crisp & cool, smooth & easy, and brewed year-round for good times. Light straw in color with a pale, creamy head, its aroma has hints of slight biscuit with subtle floral and fruity esters.

12 packs of this showed up and vanished like the same season, but I did score one once it was discounted $2 which brought the cost to like $7 for a 12 pack.
Pours a dark golden yellow color, the most familiar of all beer colors. Impressive 1" white head. Looks good, not quite clarity, but not ugly homebrew either. Aroma was mostly grain. Overwhelmingly grain to the exclusion of almost everything else.
Taste was a mild grainy affair, slightly maltier than many lagers with a similar taste profile, but other than that, just slap an ale yeast up in this BMC heavy if you will. If that comparison doesn't float your boat, think of this as an ale version of Founder's Solid Gold. But also slightly less good than that one.
Its a mild gateway type of beer, always nice to have this laying around that you can throw to Stone Cold or whomever on the river or at the softball park. Its just a grain like beer experience with around 29 ibu I'd guess.

Taste: cracker wheat crisp mellow finish. Bread yeast nose. Golden hue, mostly clear, with delicate white head and lace. Medium/light body. Another easy drinker appetizer beer.

I love Anchor Brewing! I was stationed at N.A.S. Alameda from June 1987 to October 1989 & it was the best 2.5 years of my life. My uncle was a professor at SFSU & I had a key to his apartment so I was in SF many nights a week for various and sundry. He & his friend, the late Jack Fleiner, were making homemade wine & we took the Anchor Brewery tour on several occasions. I am happy to add this one to The CANQuest (tm)!
From the CAN: "Smooth & Easy".
The Crack! unleashed a little bit of foaming through the vent so I gave it some calming time to see what was what in Whoville. It turned out to be another brimful craft CAN so I began a slow, gentle Glug into the awaiting glass. I was pleasantly surprised by the unbidden formation of a finger of foamy, rocky, bone-white head with moderate retention that actually left behind nice lacing. Color was solid Gold (SRM = 5) with NE-quality clarity, prompting a visit from The Gelt Gang of Midas, Mammon & Croesus. Nose had the familiar sweet, bready, yeasty quality that is the hallmark of a Cream Ale. My go-to is Genesee (Genny) Cream Ale & has been since I was an underage drinker cooling my beers in a creek while ostensibly fishing. If this is anywhere close to Genny Cream, which is the standard bearer, I will be giving this beer high marks. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, about par for this course. The taste was spot-on, slightly sweet, very bready with a lightly offsetting grassy hop bitterness. Founders recently came out with their Solid Gold, which is an AAL, but it was prohibitive at its price point. I Cannot remember what I paid for this CAN, but if it is reasonable, I would encourage you to grab one. It was a very smooth, easy-drinking, dare I say innocuous beer, but that is the style. I CAN crush Genny Cream all day on a hot humid day. Finish was semi- ... sweet. Dry? Semi! But very pleasant!

Attractive white-capped brew, dark golden color in the Ciney snifter. Quite pleasantly sudsy in the mouth. There is a hint of rain in the nose. Flavor is light cereal, I'd call it Cheerios, with a bit of lemon. It's an intriguing subtle concoction.
Actually there is a fair amount of flavor for the light-weight beer and ABV right on four percent, what we used to call "three-two" beer. It seems like Anchor is going through the catalogue of beer styles, hoping to hit the ol' magic, but this is one of the better ones. From the 12 oz can that showed up in far northern Washington State.
