1993 vintage...thanks, Jason! What better then to open up a Christmas beer in June with it's 90 degrees? Brilliant!

A - Pours brown with red hue, off-white head, wisps.

S - Nice sweetness, some obvious oxidization, dark fruits, smooth booze. Not quite as bad as I was expecting, but smells "older" and oxidized with some sugary sweetness.

T - Similar to the nose. Light burnt sugars, dark fruits, oak, and oxidization. Booze is smooth. Finish is sweet with slight cardboard.

M - Medium body, good carbonation, dry sweet finish.

O - Pretty decent being from 1993. I wouldn't exactly go crazy for another sample, but did enjoy this pour enough to finish it all. Average or so...

Thanks to Jason and by extension t0rin0 for this glorious birthday tick. There were a number of Anchor Christmas Ales shared, but I think this was the only one that warranted a new listing. Served in a taster glass.

A - Quick-dissolving foam settles to a thin collar. Transparent mahogany body. For an 18-year old low-ABV I can't complain.

S - Somewhat oxidized of course, but largely smells like ginger, spruce, and Christmas cake. Touch of chocolate, caramel and molasses. Not a genre of beer I normally like anyway, but pretty solid for style.

T - The taste is a bit less enjoyable, with some earthy and slightly dirty oxidation flavors competing with the sweet honey-drizzled cake and spice notes.

M - Medium-bodied, with a smooth texture, and moderate-to-low carbonation. Seems appropriate for the style and probably ABV range.

D - The flavor has largely eroded, but it's not totally undrinkable. I'm a tad surprised this as good as it was, and it gives me hope that people still planning 2000s OSA verticals won't have unbearably awful experiences. Thanks for the novelty tick!
