Palate Contaminants: other beer
Color is super dark brown, and a little light gets in around the edges. Virtually no head or lacing.
First smell is burnt rubber. Once I get past that, there some peating. As it warms, there's plenty of molasses, raisins, and cinnamon. Desiccated dates. It's very sugary. It gets more floral, too. So, bad start, amazing finish. Gotta shake my head at this one. Maybe the bottling gives it the bad start.
Those molasses and raisin tastes hit hard up front. The rubber gasket taste still shows early, but it goes away quickly. Toasted wood hits second, and it's a really pleasant flavor, almost nutty even. There's a dynamism to the flavors. The whole thing is really intense.
First thing about the feel, it's very thick. At this point, I'm not even worried about the lack of carbonation, it's more like a dessert wine, even on the alcohol feel. Unsurprisingly, the aftertaste is molasses and raisins, along with some herbs.

A: The beer is black when viewed from afar; when held up to a bright light the edge of the glass is dark reddish brown in color. It poured with no head and just a minuscule ring of white bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of dark fruits such as raisins and black currants are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and is packed with slick flavors of dark fruits such as raisins and dark currants.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied and syrupy on the palate and has a low amount of carbonation.
O: This beer drinks like a liquor but does an exceptional job at masking most of its alcohol and tastes nothing like a beer that is 17% abv and is maybe more like 12% abv. It drinks like a port wine and is very flavorful.
