Asked around Santa Cruz about the must-visit breweries and everyone agreed it would be tragic not to visit Sante Adairius. Happy to check them out the same week that their founder made the cover of Beer Advocate's print magazine. This was a good entry to the stout style -- something that the people who don't typically like stouts should try.
Had a full pour at the brewery. Aroma is delicate and balanced with a light oat character, light roasted malts and a hint of dark chocolate. The beer poured nearly black with a finger of tan head that forms a nice lacing around the glass. I rated the appearance a 5. Taste is balanced with oats and chocolate notes, light roast. Mouthfeel is medium to light bodied and silky with medium carbonation. Finish is chocolate, light roast and oats. Very enjoyable and low enough alcohol to spend some quality time enjoying.
