this is a solid outmeal stout, basic in its complexion it seems, and on the deeper and darker side of the grain spectrum in terms of flavor and roast, but still quite drinkable as they go. to me, this one tastes a little less amazing than some of their other clean beers, and it has a burnt element to it, not a charred or scorched unpleasant thing, but a past roasted dark vein that i taste through the whole thing, exceedingly bitter at times, and just disruptive at others, i dont dislike it, but its distinct here. i also get a lot of coffee character in aroma and flavor, some raisin, even some wood, its not one dimensional, but these things come together so well it seems very simple to me. light sweetness in here too, a caramely middle that spills into the finish, balancing some of the bitter of the roast. i dont taste the oats as much as i feel them here, but even the texture isnt as frothy and creamy as it could be for the style, and i thought the carbonation was a little low as well, but i like the body to it and the length of the finish. not one of the beers that will live on in my memory from our visit here (there are plenty of them though!), but a plenty serviceable stout.
